Putnam Hospital Center Recognized for Efforts To Prevent Transmission of Hepatitis B
Putnam Hospital Centerís Birthing Center was recently presented with a certificate of excellence by the New York State Department of Health Immunization Program recognizing its efforts to prevent perinatal and early childhood transmission of hepatitis B by the establishment of a policy to routinely offer to immunize all newborns with the hepatitis B vaccine at birth.
Public Health Representatives for the New York State Department of Health Barbara Arthur and Chinyere Okoro presented the recognition to Clinical Care Coordinator of Medical/Surgical, Pediatrics and Obstetrics Ann Rand, RN, and neonatologist Jean Chelala, MD, who accepted on behalf of the Carmel hospital.
